REPOWER REGIONS named Runner-Up for University Alliance of the Year at the Triple E Awards 2025

We are proud to share that REPOWER REGIONS was recognised as Runner-Up for University Alliance of the Year at the Triple E Awards 2025, held in Prague from 10–12 September 2025. The Awards celebrate excellence in entrepreneurship and engagement across higher education worldwide. Kathy Kelly from European E-learning Institute attended the Triple E Awards on behalf of the Repower Regions partnership to accept the award and had the opportunity to network with the other finalists, educators and stakeholders present at the event to share the progress of our project.

Why this matters

Our nomination — and Runner-Up result — shows the value of building a practical, Europe-wide alliance to accelerate the green transition in heating and cooling. Together with universities, VET providers, municipalities, industry and finance, we are closing skills gaps so regions can decarbonise buildings faster and more fairly.

A special night in Prague

Winners were announced during the ACEEU Forum in Prague, with the Awards ceremony hosted in the CULS Aula at the Czech University of Life Sciences and the award dinner at the historic Lobkowicz Palace in Prague Castle — a fitting setting for a celebration of innovation and community impact.

What the judges saw in REPOWER REGIONS

  • A mission with urgency: We focus on heating and cooling, one of Europe’s largest energy users and emissions sources.
  • Real pathways for people: We are creating EQF 4–6 training and micro-credentials that help apprentices, graduates and mid-career professionals progress in their careers.
  • Stronger regional ecosystems: We are building inter-sector alliances so policy, finance and education move in step — making it easier for employers to hire the skills they need.

(See our finalist profile on the Triple E Awards website for the full overview.)

By the numbers (so far)

  • 1,200 educators to be upskilled
  • 600 mid-career professionals to be trained
  • 8 regional alliances, with 50+ stakeholders engaged
  • €1.5m Erasmus+ Innovation Alliance budget
These figures reflect our current plan and commitments shared in our finalist profile.

Thank you to our partners

This recognition belongs to the whole alliance: higher education institutions, VET colleges, municipalities, industry partners and banking sector colleagues across Europe who are working with us to deliver practical skills for a clean-energy future. Your expertise, pilots and feedback make this real.

What’s next

We will keep expanding our stackable micro-credentials, securing national recognition for our programmes, and growing our community of practice so regions can share solutions that work on the ground.
